We Strive For Maritime Excellence
Bangladesh Maritime University organised an informative seminar on “Port Transformation in Bangladesh: Challenges and Way Forward” on 5 May 2026 at the university auditorium.
The respected Vice Chancellor of the university, Rear Admiral Dr. Khandakar Akhter Hossain, NBP, NUP, ndc, psc, PhD, attended the seminar as the keynote speaker. In his insightful speech, he shared his broader vision for port management and emphasised the importance of skill development, including basic Chinese and Japanese language proficiency alongside English.
To ensure the viability of projects, he stressed three key factors: on-time delivery, maintaining quality, and minimising cost. The Vice Chancellor also expressed optimism about shaping BMU students into valuable assets and shared his hope of arranging a job fair at the university in July.
Later, Commodore Md. Atiqur Rahman, (G), NUP, NPP, afwc, psc, PhD, BN, Dean of the Faculty of Shipping Administration, delivered an eloquent presentation titled “Port Transformation for Bangladesh: From Cargo Handling to Smart, Green and Multimodal Logistics Gateways.”
Another speaker, Sayed Aref Sarwar, Head of Commercial & Public Affairs at Red Sea Gateway Terminal Bangladesh (RSGT), interacted with the students and invited them to visit Chattogram Port.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Capt. Kazi Ali Imam, Head of the PSM Department.
