ICT Centre

The ICT Centre was established and started its journey since the establishment of the university. The centre aims to support Bangladesh Maritime University's learning, teaching, research, and management needs by developing, implementing, and bolstering innovative, sustainable ICT solutions and services to the academic and administrative departments, faculties, and directorates. The Centre initiates various projects to improve digital infrastructure and provide efficient technological services across the university. Key activities include:

  • Campus Area Network (CAN) Implementation
    To ensure seamless internet access across the university, the ICT Centre has deployed a Campus Area Network (CAN) that provides Wi-Fi connectivity for faculty members, administrative staff, and students.
  • Bangladesh Maritime University Integrated Management System (BIMS)
    The ICT Centre is responsible for managing and maintaining BIMS, the university’s integrated digital platforms. BIMS supports academic, administrative, and financial operations, enabling streamlined management of student information, results, leave applications, HR functions, and more.
  • University Website Management
    The ICT Centre develops, manages, and regularly updates the university’s official website (bmu.edu.bd), which serves as a central hub for information dissemination, notices, academic updates, and public engagement.
  • Server Room and Network Infrastructure
    A dedicated server room has been established by the ICT Centre to house and manage core ICT infrastructure, including servers, LAN, Wi-Fi systems, routers, and switches.
  • Email & Official Communication Services
    The ICT Centre provides official email accounts to faculty members, administrative staff, and students. ensuring secure and standardized communication within the university.
  • ICT Support and Troubleshooting
    The Centre offers technical support for hardware, software, and network-related issues, ensuring uninterrupted services in all academic and administrative units.
  • Digital Classroom & Smart Learning Support
    To promote modern teaching methods, the ICT Centre assists in setting up and maintaining digital classrooms equipped with multimedia projectors, smart boards, and internet access.
  • Online Meeting and Conferencing Facilities
    The ICT Centre manages platforms and tools for conducting virtual meetings, seminars, and webinars, facilitating hybrid communication and collaboration.

The manpower of the ICT Centre comprises skilled professionals dedicated to maintaining the university’s ICT infrastructure and providing innovative technological solutions for institutional growth.
