Bangladesh Maritime University

On 29 June 2026, the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Bangladesh Maritime University (BMU) organised an informative seminar on “Intellectual Property Rights and Patents.”

The keynote speaker of the programme was Dr. Md. Masud Rana, Assistant Professor and Chairman, Department of Fishing and Post-Harvest Technology, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka. He delivered insightful presentations titled “IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovative” and “Development of an IoT-Driven Smart Solar Dryer for Producing Exportable Dried Products.”

The Honourable Vice-Chancellor of BMU, Rear Admiral Dr. Khandakar Akhter Hossain, NBP, NUP, ndc, psc, PhD, delivered the closing remarks. He inspired BMU students and faculty members to embrace innovation and assured them that the university would extend prompt support in securing patents for their innovative research and inventions.

The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the strong employment rate of BMU graduates and instructed the faculty members to nurture BMU students with an updated curriculum, enabling them to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to thrive in the modern job market.
