We Strive For Maritime Excellence
Bangladesh Maritime University (BMU) proudly announces the exceptional achievement of its students at the Dhaka Thrive Challenge 2025, an initiative aimed at strengthening open geospatial data for Dhaka’s informal settlements. A total of 9 students from the BMU YouthMappers Chapter participated, with 5 students ranking in the Top 5 across all three competition segments. Together, they earned USD 3,000 in prize money and brought remarkable recognition to the University.
The Honorable Vice Chancellor of BMU met with the Faculty Dean, Faculty Advisor of BMU Youthmappers Chapter, and the winning team to personally congratulate them on their outstanding performance. He commended their dedication, technical excellence, and commitment to community-oriented geospatial solutions. His guidance and encouragement further motivated the YouthMappers chapter to continue advancing impactful mapping initiatives.
Through the collective efforts of the BMU mapping teams, the challenge successfully achieved:

➡️ 600+ critical lifeline facilities documented
➡️ 10,000+ street-level images captured
